Dubai Frame is a project conceived and titled by Fernando Donis and his office DONIS. The design was selected as the winner of the 2009 ThyssenKrupp Elevator International Award from 926 proposals. Participants from all over the world were invited to submit an emblem that would promote “the new face for Dubai". It is an upcoming project of Dubai tourism, under construction near the Star Gate of Zabeel Park.
The rectangular form consisting of 150m high concrete (Core) legs connected by a 93m long steel bridge at the top level. The bridge will serve as an observatory providing uninterrupted views of the “New Dubai” and “Old Dubai”. The ground floor of the building will house an exhibition hall showcasing facts, photos and artefacts of “New Dubai” and “Old Dubai”. The functional requirement of space in each floor within the concrete legs is to accommodate two lifts for the vertical movement of people and a stair case for emergency access.
